SPORTS

Playing sports throughout middle school and high school became both a highlight of my routine and a built‑in source of discipline. At my private school, being on a team was the best way to stay active while spending time with friends, so I played volleyball, basketball, and crew, with most afternoons spent at practices or games. Those seasons didn’t just sharpen my athletic skills, they taught me perseverance, commitment, and what it means to show up for the people around you. I learned how to push through tough practices, how to lead and follow, and how to stay grounded even when things got competitive or stressful.

My love for movement actually started much earlier. I took ballet in second grade, and even though I didn’t continue with it long‑term, it gave me an early sense of discipline, balance, and body awareness. Looking back, ballet was the first time I understood what it meant to practice something until it felt natural. That foundation carried into every sport I played later, shaping the way I approached training, teamwork, and even confidence.

Together, these experiences shaped my character, taught me how to manage my time, and helped me understand the value of consistency. At the time, it all felt like just part of my day, but now I can see how much those years influenced who I am. They sparked a passion for athletics and movement that I still carry with me today. Even though I’m no longer the one practicing every afternoon, I channel it now into watching sports, staying connected to the energy of competition, and appreciating the dedication it takes to perform at a high level.

Baseball has always been the excuse my family uses to explore new cities. We’re loyal New York Mets fans, but visiting different stadiums has become our favorite kind of summer trip or spring break tradition. Each ballpark gives us a new place to discover, with the game as the anchor.

Growing up, my brother played and my dad coached, so baseball was always part of the backdrop of my childhood. I picked up the rules, the strategy, and all the little details just by being around it. It’s still something that brings us together, and it’s a big part of why I love watching sports now — noticing the small moments, the energy, and the rhythm of the game.
